Assisted Living COVID-19 Prevention Efforts and Updates March 15, 2020
Based on updates provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Virginia Department of Health, we want to make you aware of additional steps we are taking at Culpepper Garden Assisted Living. The safety and well-being of our residents, as well as team and family members is vitally important to us. Currently, we do not have any known cases of COVID-19 at Culpepper Garden.
We continue to monitor and follow the guidance of the CDC, the Virginia Department of Health and local health department in implementing precautions, recommendations and guidance in order to prevent and stop the spread of the virus. However, we need you help in battling COVID-19.
Updated guidance, recommended and enforced
1.Restrict all visitation except for certain compassionate care situations, such as end of life situations.
2.Restrict all volunteers and non-essential health care personnel
3. Cancel all group activities (new ALL activities outside the resident’s apartments in the facility will be cancelled)
4. Implemented active screening of residents and HCP for fever and respiratory symptoms.
5. Dining rooms have been closed, residents will be served meals and be monitored in their apartments. (new, started this am).
We will keep you informed as the situation changes and we will notify you if a resident or staff person is under investigation for or diagnosed with COVID-19. At this time, we have all residents quarantined to their apartments and residents will continue to be monitored to make sure all their needs are met.
We continue to work around the clock to limit our resident’s exposure. However, we see in the news every day that there are more cases being diagnosed and the virus is not well understood. With that uncertainty, we are making prudent decisions to protect the health of our residents and team members. These guidelines represent our best judgement, at this time, about practical steps we can take to reduce the risk for ourselves and each other. I ask everyone’s cooperation and sensitivity. In this uncertain moment, I have every confidence in the Culpepper Garden Community to pull together with kindness, care and concern for the good of the community.
