  Advisory Councils

Through the Commission on Long-Term Care Residences, Arlington County urges the development of community advisory councils in all Arlington nursing homes and assisted living/supportive services residences. The councils build bridges between the facility and the community and sometimes serve other roles, such as facilitating discussions on current issues. Members include residents, family members, staff, Commission appointees, community representatives (such as from civic associations and churches), volunteers and the long-term care ombudsman. The Culpepper Garden Advisory Council is among the most active in Arlington County. The Council shares minutes of the meetings with the Board of Directors and Arlington County.

The Supportive Services Advisory Council meets at 9 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every month except August. Generally, the staff give reports, and the group hears from residents, as well as family members/sponsors. The meetings often have a guest speaker or a focus topic to foster interest, help resolve issues and educate the members.

There is also a larger Community and Resident Advisory Council that includes members from all of Culpepper Garden. If you are interested in joining either council or if you are involved in senior issues and would like to make a presentation, please us.
